Dear Shay,
How do I change my summer skincare routine to better suit the cooler months? My skin tends to get drier as it gets cooler and my current skincare routine doesn’t cut it anymore. I don’t know where to begin and what to change!
Thanks,
Liza

Dear Liza,

You are not alone in this battle! As the seasons change the needs of your skin change as well. Instead of dealing with hot and sticky summer days we are now preparing for a dryer and cooler climate. Hence, you may notice your that your skin isn’t having its needs met with your current skincare routine. It may seem overwhelming to decide what products to add or replace into your routine although, all you need to do is simply listen to your skin to uncover what it's lacking. Here are a few ways to incorporate more hydration into your daily routine, and some of our team’s personal favourite products.

1 Creams & Oil Cleansers

If you find that your skin is tight or dehydrated when you wake up in the morning, opt for a gentle cream or oil cleanser. These types of cleansers are often packed with fatty oils which not only do an amazing job at taking away makeup and impurities but leave your skin feeling nourished and hydrated.

Unclouded Favorities

Pai Camellia & Rose Gentle Cream Cleanser

This cleanser is amazing for all skin-types but especially for those with reactive skin (eczema, psoriasis etc) as it not only nourishes, but soothes the skin. Rose Otto Oil, one of this cleanser’s main ingredients has powerful anti-inflammatory properties that calm down irritated skin while Camellia Oil is rich in omega 9 and vitamin e which provides intense moisture to dehydrated skin. How to use: Gently massage the Pai Camellia & Rose Gentle Cream Cleanser onto dry skin. Dampen your washcloth with warm water and gently massage your skin in circular motions, removing any makeup or impurities.

Living Libations Best Skin Ever Sea-buckthorn Cleanser

Who doesn’t love a 2 in 1? You can use this product as both a cleanser & face oil. Sea Buckthorn protects against dehydration and sun damage while Jojoba Oil helps to balance the oils naturally present on the skin while decongesting clogged pores revealing silky soft skin. How to use: Use two pumps and massage The Living Libations Best Skin Ever Sea buckthorn Cleanser onto your skin. Use a warm damp washcloth to gently remove makeup and impurities. You can add a pump of the cleanser onto your damp face to double as a face oil.

2 MASKS

Masks are amazing for a pick me up for those times when your skin needs an extra boost to get glowing. If you find that your skin just needs a hydration treatment once or twice a week to keep it looking its best, hydration masks make a perfect addition to your routine. We recommend looking for masks that contain hyaluronic acid high in the ingredient list as they help your skin retain moisture to boost hydration to your thirsty skin.
